Chief Warrant Officer M.J.Y. Ouellet, MMM, CD

Chief Warrant Officer M.J.Y. Ouellet, MMM, CD Canada Command CWOChief Warrant Officer Michel Ouellet enrolled in the Canadian Forces in Rimouski on 16 August 1979 and completed his basic training at Canadian Forces Base St-Jean, Québec, in November of that year. Following the completion of his basic electronic training in November 1980, Chief Warrant Officer Ouellet was posted to Canadian Forces School of Aerospace and Ordnance Engineering in Borden for his Fire Control Technician trades training.

Chief Warrant Officer Ouellet was posted to 202 Workshop, Montreal in May 1981 and to CFB Gagetown in November of that year, where he completed his OJT as a Fire Control Technician. In August 1982, on completion of his QL5 Fire Control Technician qualification, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and posted to 5 Svc Bn in Valcartier, where he remained until July 1984. He was then posted to CFB Lahr as a FCS technician and promoted to the rank of Master Corporal in 1985. In 1987, he was posted to the 8th Canadian Hussars as a technician supporting the Leopard Tank.

Upon his return to Canada in July 1988, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and posted for his second tour with 5 Svc Bn in Valcartier as the section IC. During that time, he completed a tour in the former Yugoslavia in May 1993 with the Canadian Infantry Battle Group.

Promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer in 1993, he became the Standard Warrant Officer at the Air Defence Artillery School in Chatham N.B., a position he held until his posting as the Maintenance Warrant with 4 Air Defence Regiment in Gagetown in 1996. Promoted to the rank of Master Warrant Officer in October 1998, he assumed the duties of the ETQMS with 4 AD Regiment.

In July 2001, he was posted to DGLEPM as the Life Cycle Maintenance Manager on the Air Defence Anti-Tank System (ADATS). Promoted to his present rank in April 2003, he was posted as the Career Manager for the Weapon, Material and Fire Control technician. He was appointed on 20 July 2006 as the National Defence Headquarter Chief Warrant Officer. On 13 May 2009, Chief Warrant Officer Ouellet was appointed as the Canada Command Chief Warrant Officer.
