The following are the main promotional military activities.

A Tribute to Visitors from the Far North

Date: 21 January to 14 February 2008

OPI: 2 CRPG

Description: Over 25 members of 2 Canadian Ranger Patrol Group will travel to Quebec City by snowmobile. Canadian Rangers from Montagnais, Inuit, Naskapi, Cree and white communities in remote regions and the Far North will be welcomed by the Wendake first nations community, which has been designated the host nation for aboriginal peoples in 2008, and the Rangers will be asked to sign the livre d'Or, the ceremonial visitors' book of Quebec City. Three groups will set out from Waskaganish in the West, Kuujjuaq in the North and Natashquan in the East, and will meet up in Quebec City for the 2008 Winter Carnival.

Quebec City Naval Gathering

Date: 28 May to 01 June 2008

Description: The Canadian Forces has invited NATO countries, in particular countries where our founding peoples originated - France, the UK and Ireland - to visit Quebec City and commemorate its anniversary.

Quebec City International Air Show

Date: 13 to 16 June 2008

OPI: 3 Wing

Description: 3 Wing will host members of aviation units from the Canadian and other air forces. Units from the region will display a variety of equipment and vehicles and demonstrate their skills.

Military Museum Exhibits

Date: Summer 2008

Description: The Naval Reserve is tasked to coordinate the exhibits of four military museums from Québec: the museums of the Royal 22e Régiment, Régiment de la Chaudière and Régiment des Voltigeurs de Québec, as well as the Québec City Naval Museum. Each museum will feature an exhibit tailored to its facilities. Visitors will learn about the military history of the Province of Québec and will be encouraged to view all the other military museums. Exhibits will portray both military heritage and present-day aspects.

Freedom of the City

Date: 03 July 2008

OPI: 5 CMBG

Description: Festivities will see the Freedom of the City granted to elements of 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group, HMCS Ville de Québec, the Air Force and the reserves. Units will form up and march past in a grand parade through the streets of Quebec City. The RCMP Musical Ride may also take part.

Young People's Rally

Date: 10 August 2008

OPI: RCSU

Description: On 10 August, Canadian Cadets and Junior Rangers invite all children and teens and their families to a huge young people's rally on the Plains of Abraham. Some 4,000 Cadets and Junior Rangers from across the province will get together and celebrate Québec City's birthday with a big stage show, culminating with the hoisting of an enormous banner that will say "Bonne Fête Québec - 400 ans" (Happy Birthday Quebec City - 400 years).

Quebec City International Festival of Military Bands

Date: 14 to 24 August 2008

Description: The Québec City International Festival of Military Bands has set out on a mission to help people learn about and appreciate the military music of Canada and the associated traditions and history by playing concerts near the fortifications and military historic sites of Old Québec. Various military bands will perform at 10 historic sites and popular venues and will give concerts at the Grand Théâtre de Québec and the Tattoo, including musical performances and dance, military demonstrations, and skills.
