Three senior Canadian Forces officers from Canada Command and a senior officer from the Canadian Coast Guard were on hand at the Canada Reception Centre, Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, to mark the Prime Minister’s departure to Iqaluit, Nunavut on 17 August, 2009.

The Prime Minister was on his way to an official visit of Canadian Forces’ Operation NANOOK 09. Standing in the reception line after Captain(Navy) Greenwood (from the left) are: CAPT Ron Miller (Canadian Coast Guard), Major François Lavigne, Operations Officer, Canada Command, and Lieutenant-Colonel Dave Robinson, Senior Operations Officer, Canada Command.

The officers were involved with planning this year’s Operation NANOOK. Capt(N) Greenwood, the most senior of the three military officers, is retiring this week after 29 years service in the Canadian Forces. Operation NANOOK 09 is his final duty in the military.
